Alan Barton was a member of the duo Black Lace, alongside Colin Routh. Their had hits like: "The Music Man", "Agadoo" and "Superman". Black Lace represented UK in the Eurovision Song Contest, 1979 with the song "Mary Ann", which ended up as number 7. Barton replaced Chris Norman in the group Smokie in 1986. He recorded six albums with the band and was touring as their lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. He was doing the lead vocals on their revival new version of, "Living Next Door To Alice (Who The Fuck is Alice?)". Barton died in March 1995, from injuries of a tour bus crash with Smokie in Germany.
