Joe Sample who was one of the founding members of The Crusaders who wrote chart hits such as Street Life and One Day I'll Fly Away sung by Randy Crawford, has died at 75. Joe Sample died in Houston, Texas of complications due to lung cancer. Joe Sample was a founding member of The Jazz Crusaders who later became The Crusaders. He also recorded a couple of solo albums and one of them was actually produced by my father (Rune Öfwerman). That was the album Fancy Dance from 1979. Some of his songs were sampled by hip-hop artists, including Tupac Shakur, who used "In All My Wildest Dreams" on his "Dear Mama."
